Sumangala one of the leading Film Societies of Kerala is in its 32nd year. Started  in 1976  we are  primarily  a  film society, and considered as one of the oldest film societies in the state.  Even though we have not ventured in the other fields  of  film  making, we  are still   functioning  in  our  capacity  in  film exhibition, discussions  and  awareness  creation  among  the  film enthusiasts of serious cinema.

       Sumangala  was  inaugurated  by  none other than the renowned film director JOHN ABRAHAM in 1976.  Sumangala  family has 221 life members in its register. And as for its activities it has many other  programs also other than film exhibition. And we proudly  mention here the  four treasured FTII products of Sumangala, Ajith Kumar B. (Editor), Madhu Neelakandan(cinematographer), Kamal (Director) and Manesh Madhavan (cinematographer).

       We are very happy to announce the short film competition and festival 2008 to be held in March at  Kothamangalam. Last date  for entry is March 15th 2008. Our aim is to support  the  young  short film  makers of  the visual media in the state. And we wish to propagate the idea of short film making by supporting their attempts in film and video format.         We invite all the short film makers to participate in the competition.  Those  who  wish to participate may please visit our website  www.sumangala.kerala1.com  or  send the details of the films and
